How to Adopt
Pigeons were created to share their lives with humans. Social and adaptable, they feel at home both amongst a flock in a busy aviary or as treasured housepets.
Here's how to start your journey to a new feathered friend:
Browse Available Birds
Take a look at our available birds and see if any of them catch your eye. Each bird's profile includes their intake information, temperament notes, and any special considerations.
Get in Touch
Once you've found a bird you're interested in, reach out to us at almosthomect@gmail.com. We'll answer any questions you have about the bird and help determine if they're a good fit for you! We can also provide additional husbandry information to ensure that you are prepared!
Apply
Even if we don't have the perfect bird for you, we will send you an online application form. Pre-approved adopters get first pick when we find a bird that we feel suits their needs!
Prepare Their Space
Before bringing your bird home, you'll need a suitable housing with perches, food and water dishes, and a quiet area away from direct drafts. We'll walk you through everything you need and are happy to help with setup advice.
Welcome Them Home
Once your application is fully approved, including photos of your setup, we will set up a time to meet for pick-up. You will receive a pre-read of our adoption contract for review before we meet. We stay in touch after adoption and are always here if you need guidance or just want to share an update.
