Ducky
Rubber Ducky is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The day they were found, they were a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed feral squeaker from a flock that calls a warehouse home. One thing though...their legs didn't work! This poor pidge could only cutely sit like a rubber duck in their nest bowl while we worked out the issue. We suspect that Ducky suffered from severe calcium deficiency, and that their bones were so brittle that their lower calf bones both snapped in half! Even though Ducky is a fighter, they likely will not be a candidate for release due to the impact that their healed injuries will have on their mobility. They will likely need accommodations for gentle places to loaf and land in their new home. Almost Home typically does not adopt out birds below 5 months of age, because their personalities change drastically as they mature. In order to set them up for success, we hope to have a better idea of what life with Ducky will be like before we send them home!
